We're problem seekers.

It's one thing to be able to solve a problem, it's another thing entirely to uncover problems you don't know you have, and make sure you're choosing the right ones to solve. We pride ourselves on being able to see the big picture, but also how all of the moving pieces fit together.

Our Offerings

Brand Strategy

Businesses that prioritize their brand, have clarity in everything they do. Strategy is actually pretty simple, it's just really hard to do for yourself. Tough to read the label from inside the jar so to speak. We help people like you gain clarity in purpose, who you serve, where you should compete, how you will win, and how you will grow.

Brand Identity

People often misunderstand branding. It's not a logo or a tagline, it's the gut feeling people have when they interact with you, your product, or your service. You can't really control what they feel, but you can certainly influence it by carefully crafting all of the little experiences they have with your brand.

Website Design

Your website is where you get to define yourself online. It acts as a hub for everything you do to promote your business. Whether it's content creation, paid ads, in person networking, and so on, all roads lead your prospects there, so what they see when they get there, matters. Your website is the first place people go to look you up, so let's give 'em something to see.

Photography

These days, the world demands the brands they align with to be human and authentic. It's up to you to show them the real you. Whether it's imagery of yourself, your product or service, or the impact your making, personalized brand photography will help you tell your story and build meaningful connections with the people in your community.

Hey! I'm Ken.

I haven't always been a designer.
In fact, for most of my adult life I didn't even know it was an option for me.

Growing up

Growing up, I really only cared about playing hockey. I played competitively later into life, which means I didn't have much time to develop other interests, let alone think about career paths beyond hockey. I went to university because my mom said I had to. I made it through and graduated despite not having much interest in school. Then it was time to pick a career... I decided to take a teaching job for a year in South Korea, and no the irony is not lost on me.

Not for me...

Teaching wasn't for me, at least in the context of schools that were largely toxic, despite being filled with wonderful human beings. I stuck it out for about a decade before I burned out and decided to quit. It's weird, but I didn't even realize that I had been subconsciously preparing myself for this inevitability, for some time. I started to escape the daily grind of doing work that didn't fulfill me, by learning about design. It started with logos for hockey jerseys (duh), and before too long I was cranking out full blown websites for friends and organizations I was part of.

Come again?

One day, a buddy asked me why I wasn't designing for a living. It was like a switch turned on. It hadn't even occurred to me that I could just make my own way and pursue a career doing something that I loved to do. It was like I was waiting for permission or something. I took it as a sign, and went out on my own. I absorbed everything I could, not only about design, but entrepreneurship too. Once work became play, I was suddenly a really quick learner, and I found that many of the skills I developed through hockey and teaching made had me determined and resourceful.

Purpose.

Fast forward a decade, and I'm running my own design studio, teaching UX design at college, and building an education and mentorship community to help former hockey players transition out of sport, and into entrepreneurship. Each day, I get to share the best parts of myself, and that's a pretty fulfilling way to live.
